Guégon

Guégon ( Breton: Gwegon, Gallo: Gégon ) is a commune with 2387 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the Local Government Association, Pays de Josselin.

Geography

Guégon is located in the northern half of the eastern part of the department of Morbihan and belongs to the Pays de Josselin.

Neighboring municipalities are Lanouée in the north, Josselin and Guillac in the Northeast, Saint-Servant in the east, and Cruguel Guéhenno in the south, and Buléon Lantillac in the west and Pleugriffet in the northwest.

The town is near by its proximity to Josselin roads for inter-regional traffic. The important for the community regional road links are between the D126 Plumelec and Josselin, the D122 of Cruguel to Saint - Gobrien and D4 of le Roc Saint -André to Josselin. About the Municipality N 24 runs with two ports near Le Borne and Guégon.

The most important waters are the River Oust, which is here channeled Canal de Nantes à Brest called and the streams Chênaie, Sedona, Ar, Vieux Moulin and Ville ogre. Demographics

History

The municipality belongs to the historic region of Brittany Bro Gwened (French Vannetais ) and within this region to region Reter Bro Gwened (French Vannetais oriental ) and shares his story. From 1801 until its dissolution on 10 September 1926, she was part of the arrondissement Ploërmel. From 1793 to 1801 Guégon was the capital of a separate canton.
