Guillermo E. Brown

Guillermo E. Brown (born 1976 in New Haven, Connecticut) is an American jazz musician (drums, electronics, voice ). In his play he combined additions of traditional and free jazz with those of electronic music, hip-hop and ethnic music.

Life and work

Brown grew up in a musical family and was influenced early on by jazz, hip -hop, ambient, techno and rock music. As a teenager he learned the drums. He studied at Wesleyan University. In 2000 he replaced Susie Ibarra Quartet by David S. Ware and participated in a series of recordings Wares with how Surrendered (1999) and Corridors & Parallels ( 2001). In the same year, Brown had also been footage of Rob Reddy ( Seeing By the Light of My Own Candle) and Roy Campbel (It's Krunch Time). In the 2000s he worked, inter alia, with DJ Spooky ( Optometry ), Matthew Shipp (Nu Bop ) and in the big band of William Parker, the Little Huey Creative Music Orchestra. 2002, Brown with Soul at the Hands of the Machine debut album on Thirsty Ear before, u a. with Daniel Carter. In 2006 he worked with Dave Burrell album with momentum.
