Guillermo Navarro

Guillermo Navarro ( born 1950 in Mexico City) is a Mexican cinematographer.

Life

Guillermo Navarro was born in 1950 in Mexico City, where he grew up and a sociology degree from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México began. At age 13, he turned to photography and appeared later as a photographer among other things, for the covers of music albums responsible and also worked in the fashion industry. Through a mediated contract of his sister, who worked as a film producer, Navarro took a liking to the work as a cameraman. After a year of work experience as a camera assistant, but he had problems in the domestic film industry to gain a foothold and he worked in the early 1970s mainly in the production of documentaries which he oversaw as a director. The professional success came only after the move to Europe, where he Argentinian cinematographer Ricardo Aronovich met in Paris, where he found his mentor.

Mid-1980s, Navarro returned to Mexico, where he started from now on as a cameraman on feature film productions participate. In 1992 he made ​​the acquaintance with director Guillermo del Toro, who signed him for his horror film Cronos, for which the cinematographer was a year later honored at the Film Festival of Cannes.
