Guimaras Strait

Geographical location

The Guimaras Strait is located in the center of the Visayan Islands, which form the central part of the Philippines, and connects the Visayan Sea in the northeast with the Gulf of Panay and the Sulu Sea to the southwest.

This strait separates the islands of Panay with the province of Iloilo and Negros in the north to the east. The eponymous island of Guimaras is located in the waters. At the exit to the Visayan Sea Island Pan de Azucar, on which the 606 -meter-high Mount Manaphaga rises lies. At the south-western entrance to the Guimaras Strait is 11 km ² marine national park Taklong Iceland National Marine Reserve. The major river which flows into the Guimaras Strait is the Jalaur.
