The Gulf of Antalya (Turkish: Antalya Körfezi ) is a Gulf in southern Turkey and northern Levantine Sea, the easternmost part of the Mediterranean.

Nature

The Gulf of Antalya stretches from Anamur Burnu in the east to the west Yardımcı Burnu. This 217 km as the crow. The coastline of the Gulf is, however, more than 300 km. At the height of the city of Antalya, the Gulf extends inland about 75 km. In the Gulf itself there are no significant islands. The Golf also includes the well-known as the Turkish Riviera beach sections (220 km from Kemer to Gazipasa ). The coast itself is partially rugged with high cliffs (especially in the extreme east and west ), some you will also find flat sandy beaches with low bushes and pine vegetation.

Places

The eponymous and largest city is Antalya; Tourism is the main industry of this region. Other cities on the Gulf are Kemer, Belek, Kumköy, Manavgat, Side, of Alanya, Alanya. Apart from Antalya you will find ports for yachts in Çavuz, Sazak and Cineviz.

History

The Gulf of Antalya was called in ancient Mare Pamphylium or Pamphylisches Sea to the ancient region of Pamphylia, which limited him in the north, it extended from Lycia in the west to the east of Cilicia.
