Gungnae Fortress

Guonei Cheng and the fortress Kungnae is an archaeological site of the kingdom of Koguryo (Ch Gaogouli ) and is on the territory of the city of Ji'an集安市in the Chinese province of Jilin. It is near the site Wandu Shancheng, which also belongs to the middle Koguryo time. They are together since 1982 on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China ( 2-52 ).

The fortress Guonei was like the mountain fortress Wandu capital of the Koguryo kingdom, probably his second, first from the early century to the year 427, when the capital was moved to Pyongyang. She remained second capital until the fall of Koguryo in 668

" Guonei " ( " in the country" ) by Beckwith is a Chinese translation of the name of the city in the Koguryo language, which is reproduced below in Chinese characters phonetically as "不耐". Beckwith reconstructs the Koguryo name as * Pɨyna.
