Guy Sebastian
Guy Theodore Sebastian ( born October 26, 1981 in Klang, Malaysia ) is an Australian pop singer.
Career
Guy Sebastian is Malaysian - English descent. He was born in Malaysia, where he grew up until the age of six, then his family moved to Melbourne, and four years later to Adelaide. At 14, he appeared there in the youth choir of his church and joined with him as a solo singer on nationally and internationally. After leaving school he worked as a singing teacher and engineer, before he in 2003 at the first season of the talent show Australian Idol, the Australian edition of Pop Idol, participated.
Sebastian went in November 2003 as winner of the competition and was taken from BMG contract. His shortly thereafter published debut single Angels Brought Me Here immediately rose to number one the Australian charts and became the best-selling single from Australian production. In New Zealand, she reached the top of the charts and she was successful in some Asian countries. His debut album Just as I Am reached the highest sales in the first week that has ever achieved an album in Australia and was eventually certified 6x platinum selling for almost half a million copies.
He represented Australia at the end of 2003, so far only event of World Idol and was the seventh of eleven participants.
The second single All I Need Is You 2004 reached number 1 in Australia, as well as Out with My Baby, which was already the precursor for the second album. Beautiful Life was released in October 2004 and came in at number 2 After this rapid initial success, which also had its dark side with numerous hostile, Sebastian had to overcome a crisis of meaning. He was only once so do not reach number-one rankings more, but established itself over the years at a high level. His third album Closer to the Sun in late 2006 followed a year later with The Memphis Album, a collection of cover versions of soul classics back to the 60's. It reached double platinum.
For his fifth album Guy Sebastian was also planning to step into the United States. A download EP was released there in May 2009. Due to internal turmoil in his U.S. label, the original plans were abandoned. The single Like It Like That was released in August in Australia and became his fourth number-one single. The eponymous album was released in Australia in October 2009.
Guy Sebastian is part of the jury of X Factor Australia, 2012.
