György Apponyi

Georg Graf von Nagy - Apponyis Apponyis ( born December 29, 1808 in Bratislava, † February 28, 1899 on Good Eberhard in Bratislava ) was a Hungarian nobleman and politician.

Life

He came from the noble family of Apponyis, was only Konzipist, then Secretary of the Hungarian Court Chancellery. From 1843/44 he became politically active. As court chancellor, he led from 1844 to the conservative- aristocratic party and brought as a staunch opponent of all national- Hungarian aspirations through its system of Komitatsadministratoren opposition to. An agreement with opposition leader Lajos Kossuth failed because of the outbreak of the revolution of 1848 / 49th

By the revolution in Hungary without political function, he withdrew first, in 1859, Count Apponyis to a lifelong member of the Vienna Imperial Council. He fought for the independence of Hungary and was influential leader of the national party. On 20 October 1860 he was Judex Curiae in Pest, where he chaired the conferences for the reorganization of the Hungarian justice.

As authorized Commissioner he opened on April 6, 1861 Landtag in Buda and led the Bureau in the Upper House. After the dissolution of the Diet (August 21 ) he remained as Judex Curiae in office. Hopes that he would balance between Austria and Hungary can bring about, have not been realized, and he resigned his office on April 8, 1863.

Apart from its participation in the parliament in 1865 and several meetings of the House of Lords lived from then withdrawn in Bratislava.
