HEB ( HEButt Grocery Company ) is a privately held American retail company with corporate headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. HEB has 310 stores throughout Texas and northern Mexico. In the company of 70,000 employees (as of 2008) employs.

History

The company was founded in 1905 in Kerrville, Texas, founded by Florence Butt, as they on the ground floor of their family home CC: Butt Staple and Fancy Groceries opened. In 1919, her youngest son, Howard Edward Butt the business when he had returned from the First World War. In 1924 a second store in Junction, Texas, opened. Charles Butt, the youngest son of Howard Edward Butt, 1971 president of the company and is also CEO.

In 2005 the company became 100 years old.
