Haarlem Railway Station is the largest train station in the Dutch city of Haarlem. The station is used by approximately 34,000 people a day ( 2005). He is a central hub in urban public transport. At the station, at national regional and long-distance trains.

History

The first station was the railway line Amsterdam -Rotterdam, one of the first stations in the Netherlands, opened on 20 September 1839. This was, however, outside the city and was made entirely of wood. 1842, the first station was built at its present location. Its present appearance was the station between 1905 and 1908 by the Dutch architect DAN Margadant. It is the only station of the Netherlands in the Art Nouveau style. In the coming years, an optical transformation of the station area is planned.
