Hakushin Line

The Hakushin Line (Japanese白 新 线, Hakushin - sen) is a Japanese railway line in Niigata Prefecture, which runs between the stations Niigata and Shibata and operated by the East Japan Railway Company.

History

The line was put into operation on 23 December 1952. Initially, only the section between Shibata and Toyosaka (original name Kuzutsuka ) was realized. On April 15, 1956, the entire route was completed.

While in 1974 decided to expand the entire route double track, to this day, however, the section between Niizaki and Shibata is expanded only single track.

Stations & Operation

The 27.3 km long route is served by a continuous and two Express connections.

The Express link Benibana (べにばな) was until 1982 part of the Asahi compounds (あさひ) that connected with Niigata and Sendai Yamagata. The construction of the Joetsu Shinkansen Yamagata and the connections have been discontinued. To meet the need for an express offer, Benibana connections were created.

The second Express connection, which is operated on the Hakushin - line, is the Inaho connection (いなほ), which runs between Niigata and Aktia and Aomori. Keeps you on the Hakushin line exclusively at stations Niigata, Toyosaka and Shibata.

The Niigata Kamotsu terminal freight yard belongs traffic law to Hakushin line.

Fleet

On the Inaho - Express connections exclusively units of class 485 can be used.

The Benibana connections with trains of series E120 and 110, consistent connections with trains of series 115 and E127 operated.
