Halyna Pundyk

Halyna Wassyliwna Pundyk (Ukrainian Галина Василівна Пундик; born November 7, 1987 in Tschotyrboky, Khmelnytskyi Oblast ) is a Ukrainian saber fencer, Olympic gold medalist and world champion.

Achievements

Halyna Pundyk won at the 2004 European Junior Championships in Porec silver with the Ukrainian team. In 2005, she became Junior European Team Champion in Espinho and won at the Junior World Championships in Linz, a silver medal in the saber team. In 2007 she was again in Poznan boys team European Champion and won the Junior World Championships in Belek with the team. Silver she won with the team at the Senior European Championships in Ghent and at the World Championships in St. Petersburg, defeated only by the French team both times.

2008 Pundyk won at the Olympic Games in Beijing, the saber team competition, in single, she took the 29th place. In 2009 she won with the team the Fencing European Championships in Plovdiv and the World Fencing Championships in Antalya. In individual, she won bronze at the European Championships, defeated by their long-standing Mannschaftskamaradin Olha Charlan. In 2010 she was in Leipzig team European champion and at the World Championships in Paris, she took the team silver medal behind Russia. 2011 won Halyna Pundyk at the World Championships in Catania, a silver medal in the saber team, again only defeated by the Russian team, and won in singles at the European Championships in Sheffield Bronze, again stopped by Olha Charlan. In 2012 she won silver in the team, both at the European Championships in Legnanoals also at the World Championships in Kiev a silver medal, both times behind the Russian team.
