The Hamamatsucho Station (Japanese浜 松 町 駅, Hamamatsucho -eki ) is located in Minato located in Tokyo, Japan. The lying here terminus of the monorail line to Haneda Airport is officially called Monorail Hamamatsucho Station (モノレール 浜松町 駅, Monorēru - Hamamatsucho -eki ) refers.

History

Hamamatsucho station was opened as a through station on the newly opened section of the Japanese National Railways of Shinagawa after Karasumori on 16 December 1909. The monorail line to Haneda has been in operation since 17 September 1964. On 1 October 1964, established under the station Daimon Metro Station on Toei Asakusa Line begins operation, a direct transfer between the subway and JR lines or the monorail is not possible. Since 12 December 2000, the Daimon subway station is also served by trains of the Toei Oedo Line. Since July 14, 2002 Broad Keihin - Tohoku Line drive to JR Hamamatsucho Station.

Design and tracks

The JR station is built in the commonly encountered construction of a railway station as a transit station. It has four tracks that are used by two central platforms and run in a north-south direction. On the two outer tracks 1 and 4 by the trains of the Keihin - Tohoku Line, on the inner tracks 2 and 3, the train of the Yamanote Line. The tracks at the station, which consequently are going to the direction of travel and not on the line belonging.

The station monorail above the level of the JR platforms and west of this. The monorail station has only one track, when entering and exiting the Spanish solution is applied. Immediately after leaving the station the train crosses the JR tracks from west to east.

East of the station, the main lines of the Tōkaidō Shinkansen, and the Tōkaidō Main Line from Tokyo Station lead coming over.

The Hamamatsucho Station is served by the JR East lines Keihin - Tōhoku and Yamanote. The ending Haneda Airport Haneda line of the Tokyo Monorail begins at the station. The colors used in the table below correspond to the color codes used on the society of the lines.

Environment

On the platform of the tracks 3 and 4 of the JR train station is at the southern end of since 1952 Manneken Pis. The figure was donated by Hikaru Kobayashi for the 80th anniversary of the running tracks here. Originally from white porcelain, the figure in 1968 was replaced by the current bronze figure. As the example in the figure Brussels on the 26th of each month is attracted to a new fitting to the season costume.

The World Trade Center Tokyo is just west of the tracks and a part of the lower floors serves as the station building.

But to achieve something from the station on foot, are the Tokyo Tower (東京 タワー, Tōkyō tawa ) and the Sanen -zan Zōjō -ji (三 縁 山 増 上 寺, Sanen -zan Zōjō -ji). The two facilities are located about a kilometer and 800 meters west of the station. The Sanen -zan Zōjō -ji is a Buddhist temple and once served the Tokugawa family during their reign as their families Temple, six of the 15 Tokugawa shoguns are buried here.

Use

In 2007, the station from an average of 153 496 passengers was used on the day, so that the rank 17 took over 900 on the ranking of the busiest train stations of JR East in 2007. In 2004, the Haneda - line was used by an average of 127,000 passengers on working days in Hamamatsucho and therefore occupies rank 1 of the 10 stations of the Haneda - line. During the holiday season and the Golden Week passenger number is, however, significantly higher.
