Hames Valley AVA

Hames Valley AVA ( recognized since March 25, 1994) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California. The area lies in the eastern part of the administrative area of ​​Monterey County and is part of the larger Central Coast AVA and the Monterey AVA. The area is located on the slopes of the Santa Lucia Range on the southern end of the Salinas Valley. The soil consists mainly of shale and clay. The climate is generally warmer than within the Monterey AVA.
