Hancock is a town in Addison County in the U.S. state of Vermont with 384 inhabitants ( according to the census of 2010 ). The municipality is located on the western flank of the Green Mountains. Larger watercourses Emmerson 's branch, an inlet of the White River and the Leicester River, which flows into the Otter Creek.

The area was proclaimed on November 7, 1780 for settlement and sold on 31 July 1781 a group led by Samuel Willcox. But it came to settlement until 1788; the constituent local meeting was held on 18 June 1792.

The town lives primarily on land and timber industry, to a lesser extent by tourism. About 80 % of its area are the Green Mountain National Forest, a national park, occupied.

Major transport routes are the north- south migrating through the valley of the White River Vermont Route 100 and west by leading Ripton and Middlebury Vermont Route 125 in Hancock exist a primary school and a community of the United Church of Christ. The responsible hospital is in Middlebury.
