Hanin Elias

Hanin Elias ( born May 31, 1972 in Wittlich ) is a German musician and former label - proprietor.

Life

The daughter of a Syrian doctor and a German mother spent part of her childhood in Syria, which they had a lasting influence. In addition to her then-boyfriend Alec Empire and Carl Crack 1992 she was one of the founding members of the band Atari Teenage Riot, and thus one of the pioneers of the digital hardcore scene.

After two pregnancies and the off of Atari Teenage Riot Elias decided in 1999 to go it alone and with In Flames released her first solo album.

She founded the original Fatal Recordings sub-label under the umbrella of Atari Teenage Riot 's own label Digital Hardcore Recordings. In this sub-label Elias wanted to publish exclusively written by women music to provide a platform to offer them something in the men -heavy scene. Later, Elias founded Fatal Recordings as completely new independent label.

2004 saw the album Future Noir. Among other things, it guest musicians such as Bertil Mark (Son Goku, the Fantastic Four ) represented and Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth. Produced and composed was the album of TweakerRay.

Elias was part of a hardly manageable number of collaborations. Among other things, she worked with Le Tigre, Thurston Moore and J Mascis.

In 2005, Elias increased the industrial rock project Pigface (including Steve Albini, Jello Biafra, Danny Carey, Flea and Trent Reznor ), and went with this in the U.S. on tour.

In 2006, Hanin Elias her label Fatal Recordings and opened the gallery Elias in Berlin.
