Hanjin Shipping
The Hanjin Shipping Co., Ltd.. ( HJS) is one of the largest shipping companies in the world; Company is based in Seoul ( South Korea). Hanjin Shipping and other companies such as Korean Air, ' Hanjin Transport ' and the shipyard and construction company ' Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction ' together form the Hanjin Group, one of the Korean chaebol and one of the leading logistics companies in the world.
The beginnings of cargo shipping within the Hanjin Group date back to the year 1945. A first container service was set up in cooperation with the Sea-Land Corporation then leading in 1969. In 1977 the ' Hanjin Container Lines ' established; a merger with Korea Shipping Corp.. led in 1988 to the founding of Hanjin Shipping.
Hanjin Shipping has a fleet of more than 140 container ships, bulk carriers and tankers. To Hanjin Shipping belonged to 2009 in 1995 acquired Keoyang shipping company Shipping (also from Korea ) and a 1997 acquired a majority stake in the shipping company in Bremen Senator Lines (1994 from a merger of the Senator line with the DSR Rostock emerged ). Another subsidiary is the nautical IT service CyberLogitec. In addition, Hanjin Shipping operates eleven own container terminals.
Hanjin Shipping and Senator Lines counted together the ten largest container shipping lines in the world. Together with the shipping companies, COSCO (China ), K Line ( Japan) and Yang Ming (Taiwan ) formed Hanjin Shipping and Senator Lines, the consortium CKYHS Group.
Hanjin Shipping operates with their ships many lines, especially in East Asia, Europe and the American West Coast. Here, more than 80 ports in more than 35 countries are run regularly. In Germany, Hanjin Shipping has offices in Hamburg, Bremen, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich. In Switzerland, Hanjin is represented in Basel.
