Hans Spaan

Hans Spaan ( born December 24, 1958 in Assen, Netherlands ) is a Dutch former motorcycle racer.

Career

Hans Spaan started from 1980 and 1994 in classes up to 50 cc, 80 cc and 125 cc Motorcycle World Championship. Between 1980 and 1987 Spaan took on different makes with rather limited success at the 50 - or 80 - cc 's World Cup. His breakthrough came with the change in the 125 cc class in 1988, when he immediately was third overall on Honda. In the seasons 1989 and 1990 Spaan Àlex Crivillé and Loris Capirossi had beaten only briefly and was runner-up. At the end of season 1994 Hans Spaan then ended his active career in which he won in the classes to 50 cc, 80 cc and 125 cc of nine Grand Prix wins, two runner-up titles and nine Dutch Masters title.

After his driving career Spaan built together with another Dutch ex-racing driver, Arie Molenaar, a team in the 125 cc World Championship. In the first year, 1995, could be with the Japanese Haruchika Aoki celebrate winning the 125cc world title and even defend the title in the following season. He then worked, in addition to his role as chief mechanic at Molenaar Racing with Suzuki together, the factory became involved again in 1997 in the 250 cc World Championship. In the 2000 season Spaan worked as technical director at the Dutch Rizla - Honda team, which competed in the 500 - cc class with Jurgen van den Goorbergh on a V2 TSR Honda.
