Harbour Centre

Harbour Centre is a skyscraper, located centrally in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in the Business District. The turret on the roof of the office building makes the entire building a landmark of the city of Vancouver. The rotary tower dominates the skyline of Vancouver and is one of the tourist attraction. From the platform you can get a view of the metropolis. The building was completed and opened in 1977.

It was designed by the WZMH Architects. It has 28 floors, with turret, it corresponds to a building with 44 floors. The viewing platform is located 130 meters above sea level. The building was until 2008/2009, the tallest building in Vancouver, until it was replaced with the completion of Living Shangri -La at 200 meters. The building is located in the 555 West Hastings Street. It is located near the shore and is very well connected to public transport. In the immediate vicinity is the Waterfront Station, one of the major transit station and connecting nodes with multiple lines of the operating company Translink.

The Canadian Coast Guard from Vancouver ( Vancouver Coast Guard ) conducts a transmitting and receiving station in the building. She is responsible for the shipping traffic off the coast. Its remit also includes the traffic regulations in the northern part of the Fraser River, Burrard Inlet, Indian Arm, English Bay and Howe Sound.

Tourist attraction

The turret with the viewing platform was officially opened by U.S. astronauts Neil Armstrong in a ceremony on August 13, 1977. Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, also left his footprint in concrete, which is now on display on the Observation Deck.
