Harry Beresford

Henry William Walter Horseley Beresford (* November 4, 1863 in London, England; † October 4, 1944 in Los Angeles, California ) was a British actor.

Life

Harry Beresford worked in a period of around 60 years as an actor, the first decades of his career he spent in England. In the 1920s, he played regularly on Broadway in New York City, about an alcoholic in the lead role of the play The Old Soak. 1926 Beresford was at an advanced age, his film debut and played until 1938 in 56 films, including well-known large-scale productions such as Dinner at Eight, David Copperfield and Anna Karenina. The respected supporting actor embodied particularly frequent doctors, so doctors or other scholars. In addition, he worked as a writer of plays and books, the film based Longshot (1939 ) with Marsha Hunt at Beresford's original story.

Beresford was married to actress Kitty Gordon (1878-1974), with whom he 's daughter Vera ( * 1901) had.
