Hauteville-sur-Fier

Hauteville- sur- Fier is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Hauteville- sur- Fier is located at 370 m above sea level. M., near Rumilly, about twelve miles west of the town of Annecy (air line). The village extends Albanais slightly increased at the northern edge of the Talniederung of Fier, east of the ridge of the Montagne du Gros Foug.

History

The territory of Hauteville- sur- Fier was already inhabited during the Roman period. In the 12th century a Cluniac Priory was founded. Until 1901, the community was officially first Hauteville -de- Rumilly and later Haute Ville-en -Genevois. To a field change occurred in 1923, when the hamlet of La Champagne separated on the south side of Fier of Marcellaz - Albanais and Hauteville- sur- Fier was assigned.

Attractions

The village of Saint-Nicolas Church was built in Baroque style in 1681 and remodeled in the 19th century. It has a wooden statue of Christ from the 17th century. The Château des Onges in the Renaissance style, which dates from the 16th century, altered in the 19th century.
