Hawk Springs State Recreation Area

The Hawk Springs State Recreation Area is a recreation area in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Wyoming, approximately 10 kilometers away from Nebraska in Goshen County. It is located on Hawk Springs Reservoir and is run by the Wyoming Division of State Parks and Historic Sites. At the reservoir, a colony Canada herons and several species of ducks birds such as blue and gray wings ducks, gadwall, wood ducks and pintails have settled.

History

The area around the Hawk Springs Reservoir was heavily frequented by visitors. The Wyoming Game & Fish Department began regulatory action and put picnic tables and barbecue areas, a boat ramp and two toilets. 1987 agreed to the Wyoming Recreation Commission, to take over the supervision of the thus founded Hawk Springs State Recreation Area on the shores of the reservoir, while the Wyoming Game & Fish Department continues to be responsible for the use of water and fish stocks.
