The Hockey Club Merano (Italian: Hockey Club Merano ) is an Italian ice hockey club from Merano, the, and, since 2013 plays since 2009 in the 2a Divisione, the second highest Italian ice hockey league in the Inter - National -League. The home stadium, the Meranarena, has a seating capacity of about 3,500 seats. Most players on the team come from the municipality of Merano, the home community of the club.

History

The HC Merano was founded in 1968 and celebrated in the 1970s with two championship titles in the series A2 initial success. The first Italian championship in the club's history reached the club in the season 1985 / 86th 1999 was followed by another championship before the club in 2004 descent into A2 series. In 2008, the HC Merano a game operation and went into bankruptcy after one year before the matches could only be maintained through a partnership with the HC Bolzano.

In September 2002, founded next to the HC Merano HC Merano Junior, the first care of exclusively by the Meran hockey junior and thanks to serious work enjoyed great success. In the 2008 /09 season, the first team participated in the Series C ( U26 ) and won the championship.

In early 2009 the Board of Directors decided to exercise the right ascension in the A2 series. Aegerter was already in the 2006/07 season coach in Merano and won with the team the championship title of the series A2.
