He Luting

He Lüting, even He Luting (Chinese贺绿汀/贺绿汀, Pinyin Hè LUTING; * July 20, 1903, † 27 April 1999) was a Chinese composer of the 20th century. He composed songs since the 1930s for Chinese films, including some remained popular.

At the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, he won with his composition The flute of the buffalo boy (牧童 短笛) 1934 a competition was sponsored and evaluated by the Russian composer Alexander Nikolayevich Tcherepnin.

His best-known compositions are the "Song of Four Seasons" (四季歌) and " The Wandering Songstress " (天涯 歌女, with text by Tian Han), both for the film Street Angel from 1937, composed and sung by Zhou Xuan.

In September 1949 Lüting was appointed director of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. End of 1965 initiated Jiang Qing, Mao 's fourth Ehrefau anti-Western crusade of the Cultural Revolution, and a wave of terror recorded every sector of society. In the spirit of proletarian solidarity all "bourgeois " artists of public humiliation were subjected and some chose suicide as a way out. An amazing event took place on Chinese television: He Lüting who was attacked by a protarischgesonnenen critics because he had defended the music of Claude Debussy, a survey of torture has been subjected, but refused to apologize. 1984 Lüting retired and was awarded the title of Honorary Director. The main concert hall of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music named after He Lüting.
