Héctor Rial

José Héctor Rial Laguía ( born October 14, 1928 in Pergamino, Argentina, † February 24, 1991 in Madrid, Spain ) was an Argentine- Spanish footballer and coach.

Career

Héctor Rial began his professional career at CA San Lorenzo de Almagro in Buenos Aires and then played a few years with great success in Colombia. There he met Alfredo Di Stéfano know, on whose recommendation he was obliged in 1954 from Real Madrid.

From 1952 to 1954 he played in Club Nacional de Montevideo at football and won with the club in his first year there, the football championship of Uruguay.

At Real Madrid the technically appealing striker scored many goals and was only di Stéfano the playmaker of the legendary Ballets white. With the club he won from 1956 to 1960 five times in a row, the European Champion Clubs' Cup. Rial participated in four of the finals, scoring 3 goals. In the late 1950s he formed together with Di Stefano, Puskas, Gento and Kopa one of the outstanding storm formations in football history.

In addition to his scoring prowess Rial was known especially for his game intelligence and his excellent passing game. He drew not only together with Di Stéfano a stunning short passing game on, but was also capable of up to 40 meters to hit long accurate passes, with whom he often brought the fast Gento into play.
