Heinrich von Tiedemann

Heinrich von Tiedemann Seeheim ( born October 22, 1843 in Dembogorsch at Puck, West Prussia Province; † January 2, 1922 in Berlin) was a German politician. He was chairman of the German Eastern Marches Society and grandfather of the journalist Heinrich von Tiedemann.

Life

His parents were Friedrich Wilhelm von Tiedemann (* March 1, 1789; † October 5, 1880 ) and his second wife Rudolfine Pape ( born July 21, 1809 † July 21, 1886 ).

He was born into a Prussian military family and also entered the military service. As an infantry officer, he participated in the German War of 1866 and the Franco-German war of 1870/71 part. In 1872 he married a daughter of the Berlin merchant of Hardt. In 1881 he took over as captain for bad career opportunities farewell to the military. He first worked in the company of his father, before he ( " small lakes " ) took over the manor Jeziorki in the province of Posen, the Polish name he renamed in Seeheim. He later acquired an additional freight and became one of the most important landowner of the province of Posen.

He was in 1894 with Ferdinand of Hansemannplatz and Hermann Kennemann co-founder of the Ostmark association. After the first letter of the key founders, he was also known as Hakatistenverein. This he headed unchallenged as chairman until 1920. The club initially supported among others by former Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, urged by the government under Leo von Caprivi a tougher policy toward the Polish minority. The aim was to Entpolonisierung and Germanization of Prussian territories. Following the intensification of the anti-Polish policy after the fall of Caprivi Tiedemann expressly supported the government's course.

In addition to the Pan-German Association of Ostmark club was led by Tiedemann's one of the most influential radical of nationalist ideas during the German Empire. Tiedemann was himself a leader active in the Pan-German Association.

He was with Dorothea von Hardt ( born December 29, 1852 † January 4, 1926 ) married. The couple had the following children:
