Heinz Winkler (chef)

Heinz Winkler ( born July 17, 1949 in Brixen in South Tyrol / Italy ) is a German - Italian chef.

Life

Winkler grew up as the youngest of eleven siblings in a mining family in South Tyrol. At 14, he began an apprenticeship as a chef in Bolzano, after which he worked for seven years in various hotels and restaurants in Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland. His first position as Chef de Cuisine, he had from 1973 to 1977, during which time he worked respectively in the winter season in the Palace Hotel Pontresina and Kulm Hotel in St. Moritz and in the summer season at the Hotel Gasthof Stift. Then, Winkler was a year when Paul Bocuse.

From 1979 to 1991 Winkler was the successor of Eckart Witzigmann chef in Munich Restaurant Tantris. Here he was awarded by the Michelin Guide 1979 "Chef of the Year" and was awarded second Michelin star. In 1982 he was elected, the youngest three-star chef in the world. This three star retained the Tantris ten years also the restaurant received 19.5 points in the Gault Millau.

Since 1991, Heinz Winkler owner and chef of the Hotel Residenz Heinz Winkler in Aschau im Chiemgau in the vicinity of Lake Chiemsee. Again, he was from 1994 to 1995 and from 2001 to 2008, three Michelin stars - so he was charged with 20 vintages of the most three-star Sir chef in Germany. The Gourmet magazine declared him The Gourmet 1997 "Chef of the Year". Since February 2008, he Stephan Brandl stands as the second chef to the side.

2001 received Winkler, who is also Commissaire generals of international chefs toques since 1994, for his contribution to the reputation of German cuisine abroad, the Federal Cross of Merit.

From 2007 to 2009 Heinz Winkler was also patron of the restaurant Jeroboam at the Ritz -Carlton Moscow.

Private

Winkler has two adult sons from his first marriage and a son from his second marriage. His son Alexander was 2012 Restaurant Manager in the " Residenz Heinz Winkler ".
