Hélène Schmitt

Hélène Schmitt is a French violinist in the field of historical performance practice.

Life

Hélène Schmitt began his violin studies at the Conservatory in Metz and finished this at the Paris Conservatory with a degree in violin and chamber music. Then she learned at Chiara Banchini the game of Baroque violin and historical performance practice, first in Geneva, then she followed Banchini at the Schola Cantorum in Basel. There she also studied bass of Bøje Jesper Christensen. She lived and worked for some time in Basel in the environment of the Schola Cantorum, then for ten years in Germany, partly in the environment by Reinhard Goebel.

Schmitt has performed at the most prestigious early music festivals, such as the Netwerk Oude Muziek in the Netherlands, the Innsbruck Festival, Festival de Saintes, Festival Bach de Lausanne, Festival de Pontoise, Les Grandes Journées de Versailles, Festival d' Ambronay, Festival van Vlaanderen, Festival de Wallonie, Les Folles Journées Nantes and more. In 2010 she undertook a tour that took them through different states of North and South America.

At their regular companions include the harpsichordist Jörg- Andreas Boetticher, the lutenist Eric Bellocq and cellist Gaetano Nasillo. The dancers and choreographers Raphaël Cottin accompanied them in a project with the Sonatas for Violin without Bass by Johann Sebastian Bach. The recordings were partially recorded in Cologne Germany Studio of Radio.

Hélène Schmitt was a lecturer for baroque violin at the Conservatory regional (CRR ) of Toulon, she currently teaches in the (CRR ) Boulogne -Billancourt. She plays on a violin from the early 18th century by Camillo Camilli.
