Helvetia-Cup

The Helvetia Cup is a European team tournament for mixed teams in badminton. He was provisionally held for the last time in 2007.

In order to increase contact among younger European Badminton Nations, pursuant to the recommendation of the Swiss Badminton Association in 1961, an unofficial European Team Championship, which was first and then called Cup of Nations Helvetia Cup to Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands launched. The traditional and leading at that time European Nations Badminton Denmark, Sweden, England and Scotland were denied participation. By 1971 the competition was held annually, then the introduction of the badminton team championship alternately with this. Mid-1980s, was awarded the Cup the additional designation European B- Team Championships. From this time the tournament was considered a qualifying competition for the following Team Championship. Currently, the 13 best teams in the Championship ensure participation at the next European Championships, the last three of the field of sixteen be relegated to the Helvetia Cup and have to fight with the rest of the European team for the remaining three places in the next European Championship.
