Hemaiag Bedros XVII Ghedighian

Hemaiag Bedros XVII. Guedikian CAM ( born October 2, 1905 in Trabzon, Turkey, † November 28, 1998 in Bzommar, Lebanon ) was the seventeenth Armenian Catholic Patriarch of Cilicia.

Life

On October 19, 1930, ordained priest of the Order Hemaiag Guedikian Mechitarists (CAM). As Abbot General of Mechitarists he was appointed on 30 May 1971 Titular Bishop of Chersonesus in Zechia and appointed Patriarchal Vicar for the same time of Cilicia. Was Guedikian from its predecessor Iknadios Bedros XVI. Batanian and the co-consecrators Archbishop Georges layeK of Aleppo and Bishop Garabed Amadouni, Apostolic Exarch of the Eparchy of France consecrated bishop. He was a participant in the third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965 ). As followers of the Patriarch of Cilicia, he was as Hemaiag Bedros (Peter) XVII. Guedikian elected seventeenth patriarch and enthroned on 3 July 1976. After the age rules He retired on May 30, 1982, until his death on November 28, 1998 Altpatriarch of Cilicia.
