Henri Belolo

Henri Belolo (* November 1936 in Casablanca, Morocco ) is a French music producer.

Life and work

Henri Belolo became known with the advent of disco music. With the help of his friend and composer Jacques Morali music groups such as Ritchie Family and the Village People was involved in the development, with the latter in 1979 he won a Grammy Award. He is also one of those who made known to breakdance in France with the group Break Machine and its acclaimed hit Street Dance ( 1984). He is also founder of the label Scorpio Music in France - an independent label, which up to the present time, the genres House and Club with numerous hits following artists favored since 1990: 2 Unlimited, Gala, Eiffel 65, Haddaway, Jaydee, Black Legend, Moloko, Bellini, Bass Bumpers, Joan Jett, 20 Fingers, Ilona Mitrecey. He is also co-founder of the Société civile des Producteurs de Phono Grammes en France ( SPPF ), the Civil Society of the record producer in France that brings together more than 800 independent labels.

Unlike his partner Jacques Morali he is heterosexual, but saw the image of the gay Village People a way to bring a special party style expression.
