Henry IV, Duke of Limburg

Henry IV of Limburg (* 1200, † February 25, 1246 ) was since 1221 Lord of Monschau, reigned from 1225 to 1246, the county mountain was, from 1226 Duke of Limburg Lower -Lorraine and Vogt of Deutz.

Life

He was the eldest son of the Duke Walram IV of Limburg and Lower Lorraine and Gwendolyn of Monschau. His brothers were Walram Lord of Monschau and Poilvache, Henry V, Count of Luxembourg and Gerhard Count of Durbuy.

By his marriage in 1217 with Irmgard of Berg, he was the son of Adolf III. of mountain ( † 1218 ). He took over due to the violent death of Archbishop Engelbert I of Cologne in 1225 dominion over the county Berg, who had his wife Irmgard claimed as part of heir Adolphus already in 1218, but Adolf's brother Engelbert had taken control.

His sister Sophie von Limburg was married to Friedrich von Isenberg († 1226 ). Henry was a loyal supporter of the Hohenstaufen. He commanded the army of Frederick II at the Fifth Crusade 1228-1229 to Jerusalem.

With its Hauptlehnsherrn Archbishop Konrad von Hochstaden he concluded peace in 1243 and counted after the papal camp.

His children were Walram V. († October 14, 1279 ) and Adolf IV, Count of Berg ( † 1259 ).
