Henry IX the Older
Henry IX. of Glogau ( Heinrich IX Elder of Glogau, .. * 1389/90; † November 11, 1467 in Crossen ) was from 1413 to 1418 together with his brothers Henry and X. Wenceslas Duke of (semi) Glogau. He was then to 1423 together with Heinrich X. and then alone reigning Duke of Frey city and (semi) Glogau and also from 1430/31 Duke of Crossen.
Origin and family
Henry came to the Silesian Piast branch of Glogau. His parents were Henry VIII and Catherine ( † 1420 ), daughter of the Duke of Opole Władysław II Between 1423 and 1430 he married Hedwig, daughter of Duke Konrad III. of oil. The couple had children

Life
When the father's death in 1397 Henry and his brothers John I, Henry X. " Rumpold " and Wenzel were († 1430/31 ) still a minor. Together with her mother, she took over the regency over the undivided inheritance of their father, but were initially under the tutelage of her uncle Rupert I of Legnica. After 1403, the oldest brother John I came of age, he assumed the regency at the same time for his younger brothers. 1413 the area of Sagan was spun for Johann I, where he had to renounce the succession in Glogau share at the same time. This managed from 1413 Heinrich IX. and his younger brothers Henry X. and Wenzel to 1418 first together. When performed in this year inheritance received Heinrich IX. and Henry X. the field of ( semi or ducal ) Glogau and Frey city, while Wenzel next Glogau addition Crossen and Schwiebus received. Henry IX. was concerned about the welfare of his subjects. In 1429 he undertook the city Grünberg for the construction of a fortified city wall. In 1446 he bought from John I of Liegnitz the Duchy Lüben which he devoted his unmarried sister Catherine as jointure. John's brother Henry X. pledged him in the same year the Duchy Haynau.
On April 19, 1458 Henry IX occurred. a collar on, which also includes the Erbfürstentümer Wroclaw and Świdnica and Jawor the Dukes Konrad X of Oels and Saganer brothers Balthasar and John II and Hedwig, the widow of the Duke of Legnica next to the Breslau Bishop Jost von Rosenberg and his cathedral chapter John I belonged.
