Office gate affair

During his time as an MP in the House of Commons Henry McLeish entertained his constituency office in Glenrothes, but failed the House of Commons to report and the annual income of £ 36,000 refund.

The subject was taken to the Scottish Parliament by the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party in April 2001. At that time, he paid the money back, but remained under pressure. In particular, the Scottish National Party doubted his integrity and demanded his resignation. He fought against the calls for his resignation on the grounds that his misconduct was an oversight and no intent. On November 8, 2001, he succumbed to the pressure and resigned. His successor was Jack McConnell.
