Henry Winkler

Henry Winkler ( born October 30, 1945 in New York City as Henry Franklin Winkler ) is an American actor, director and film producer. He became known with the series Happy Days.

Life

Henry Winkler's Jewish parents, Harry Irving († 1995) and Ilse Anna Maria Winkler ( née Hadra, 1913-1999 ), fled in 1939 on the eve of World War II from Germany to the USA. The parents settled in New York City, where Henry was born on 30 October 1945. His father was a manager in a timber company. Winkler graduated in 1967, the Emerson College and in 1970 the Yale School of Drama. In 1978 he received his doctorate at Emerson College in the field of literature.

Winkler is married since 1978 with Stacey Weitzman, with whom he has three children.

Career

In the early 1970s he performed in various television programs. In the film drama The Lord's of Flatbush (1974 ), he starred with Sylvester Stallone one of the major roles. From 1974 to 1984 he played in the television series Happy Days Fonzie as one of the lead roles.

For the lead role in the comedy heroes of today, in the next occurred Winkler Sally Field and Harrison Ford, he was nominated for a Golden Globe in 1978. For his role as a Wall Street broker Chuck Lumley in the comedy Night Shift - The morgue freaks completely out of Ron Howard in 1983 he was nominated for the same price. In the comedy Click, he joined in 2006 on the side of Adam Sandler, Kate Beckinsale and Christopher Walken on. In the television series Royal Pains he has a consistent role since 2010.

Winkler also directed, in 1984 at the Drama All the Kids Do It with George Dzundza and Danny DeVito. For this film, in 1984, he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy and won the award as producer.
