Henryk Åšrednicki

Henryk Srednicki ( born January 17, 1955 in Siemianowice Sląskie ) is a retired Polish boxer. He was world champion in 1978 and European champion in 1977 and 1979 in the amateur boxing in half or fly - flyweight.

Career

Henryk Srednicki began as a teenager at Gornik Siemianowice with the boxes. With a greatest of 1.60 meters, it was extremely light and began his career as Halbfliegengewichtler ( class to 48 kg body weight). Over the years, he grew up in the fly or in the Bantamweight ( 51 kg to classes and 54 kg body weight) into it. During his career, which was to last until 1985, he started also for the following clubs: GKS Katowice GKS Tychy Gornik Sosnowiec and GKS Jaskrzebie. In 1973, he became the Polish Junior Champion in the light flyweight with a win over Henryk Urbanski. This was his first great success, the many should follow.

In 1974 he was Polish champion in the seniors in the light flyweight with a win over Janusz Misiak first time. At the end of 1977 Henryk Srednicki won in Warsaw at the 1st Feliks strain tournament, which was held to commemorate the legendary Polish boxing coach Feliks base in Warsaw, the competition in the flyweight with a victory in the finals over the Hungarians Sandor Orban.

1978 suggested Henryk Srednicki in the final at the Polish Championships flyweight in a successful revenge Henryk Czerwinski and grabbing himself already his fourth Polish championship in the seniors. Subsequently, he celebrated at the World Championships in Belgrade, his biggest success in his career. He became world champion in the flyweight. He beat this Vaclav Hornak from Czechoslovakia, Sandor Orban, Alexander Mikhailov, from the Soviet Union and Hector Ramirez from Cuba on points. Henryk Srednicki, making it the only Polish boxer who won a world title since the introduction of the box world championships in 1974. In the Polish Championships 1980 Henryk Srednicki defeated flyweight already in the semi-final against Ryszard Czerwinski. But he was still sent to the Olympic Games in Moscow, but could not convince there. After a clear points victory over Webby Mwango from Zambia he lost that is already in the quarter-final against the Soviet athlete Viktor Miroshnichenko and remained in 5th place again without an Olympic medal.

After these Olympics Henryk Srednicki started at no more international championships. He was also missing in the Polish Championships in 1981, but won the tournament for the black diamond in Sosnowiec in the final over Edward Maczuga, Poland, on points.

In 1982, he was the last time Polish champion, this time bantamweight. He hit play in the final Slawomir Zapart on points. In the Polish Championships 1983 he lost in the bantamweight semi-final against Slawomir Zerominski on points and was eliminated in the Polish Championships in 1985, the last, which he denied, against the same boxer already in the quarter- finals. In 1984, he took in a country fighting in Gdansk against the Federal Republic of Germany once again the Polish colors, winning the bantamweight on the Worms Stefan Gertel on points.

After 1985 Henryk Srednicki ended his career so successful. He attended the Academy coach in Myszków and works there as a coach. One of his students is Lukasz Maszcyk, who came at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing in the light flyweight through to the quarter finals.

Henryk Srednicki is also active in politics, was a candidate in the parliamentary elections in 2005, but in vain for a seat in the Sejm.
