Hercules (1998 TV series)

Hercules (English Hercules: The Animated Series). 's An animated series of The Walt Disney Company from the years 1998 and 1999, the series is based on the Disney movie Hercules in 1997 and the subsequent video production Hercules: Zero to Hero of 1998, which can be regarded as pilot.

Content

The series is about the teenage years of the demigod and hero in training, Hercules. This visits the Prometheus Academy. Hercules has to deal mainly with the usual problems of a teenager, even though he falls again and again to the fact, when fiends give the honor. Especially his evil uncle Hades, god of the underworld, proves to be a recurring adversary. He finds support for his best friends, Cassandra and Icarus.

The storyline runs parallel to the first half of the film, and much refers to the film and subsequent events. The figures come mostly from Greek mythology.

Main Characters

  • Hercules: The young demigod is the son of Zeus. Although he is a naive dub, he has a strong sense of justice and bravery. He visits the Prometheus Academy and is a hero in training.
  • Cassandra: She is a visionary and more pessimistic and more serious cast of mind. Your premonition, usually worse kind, she comments sarcastically and cool, just like Icarus ' overtures.
  • Icarus: He once flew with the wax wings of his father too close to the sun, whereupon he suffered brain damage and crashed. Today, he is therefore a crazed, but cheerful individuals. He worships Cassandra, of which this but want to know anything. His father Daedalus directs the work of teaching at the Academy.
  • Adonis: Adonis is the narcissistic and arrogant Prince of Thrace and from a wealthy family. This supposedly higher position he constantly tries to their advantage, and against his classmates. The pretty boy is alternately a relationship with Helen of Troy.
  • Superba ( in the original: Tempest ): She's an attractive Amazone and the daughter of Hippolyte. Her mother sent the disgruntled Superba to the Academy. Although it is easily irritated and sometimes choleric, but basically also sensitive and romantic.
  • Philoctetes: He is a satyr and experienced heroes trainer, so he leads the hero now also training at Hercules.
  • Helena: Helen of Troy is the most popular girl in school. She is very attractive, nice and helpful and in a relationship with Adonis.

Furthermore, there are other recurring characters, especially the Greek gods such as Zeus, Hades, Ares, Aphrodite, Poseidon and Hermes.

Production and publication

The Walt Disney Company produced the series in 1998 and 1999 under the direction of Phil Weinstein. The music was written by Adam Berry, Kevin Quinn and J. Eric Schmidt. There 65 episodes in two seasons (: 1-52; Season 2: Season 1 53-65 ) were of 31 August 1998 broadcast until January 16, 1999 at the ABC.

In Germany, the series 1999 Saturday was the first time from 21 November morning on RTL. In addition to broadcasting the Disney Channel and Toon Disney, Hercules was also at ProSieben, Kabel eins and Super RTL. In addition, the Austria ORF 1 radiates the series. Two sequences have been published in German on DVD.
