Hermann Beitzke

Hermann Beitzke (* June 21, 1875 in Tecklenburg ( Westphalia ), † June 8, 1953 in Graz ) was a physician and tuberculosis researcher at the University of Graz. He was twice Dean of the medical school and once Rector of the Karl- Franzens- University.

Learning and Teaching

Beitzke studied medicine at the Universities of Lausanne, Bonn, Munich and Berlin, before he received his doctorate in Kiel 1899. He worked in the sequence from 1900 to 1901 as an assistant at the Hygiene Institute in Halle an der Saale and was thereafter until 1902 at the Pathological Institute in Göttingen. He then moved to 1906 at the Pathological Institute in Berlin. In 1905 he received his doctorate in Berlin General Pathology and Pathological Anatomy. 1911 Beitzke professor in Lausanne, before he moved to the Medical Academy in Dusseldorf in 1916. He then taught 1922-1941 at the University of Graz. His research is mainly focused on Beitzke the pathology of infectious diseases and was co-editor of the " results of the entire tuberculosis research."

Familial and Private

Hermann Beitzke was married to Irma, born Krönig and the father of Gunther Beitzke.

Since his studies, he was a member of the dueling fraternity Germania Bonn (then VC, later CC, now a Turnerschaft in Marburg Convention ).
