The monastery Herrevad ( Herivadum ) is a former Cistercian monastery in Sweden. It was in the former Danish Skåne in Ljungbyhed in the church today Klippan.

History

In 1144 the monastery of Archbishop Eskil of Lund was founded as a direct daughter house of Citeaux. From Herrevad went from the foundation of the monastery TVis, Holme Abbey and Monastery Løgumkloster. After recovery of the monastery by the crown in 1565, the facility has expired. Towards the end of the 16th century the monastery was demolished and the material was used to build the Caroli Church in Malmö. After the transition to Sweden Skåne a still existing castle was built in the Tycho Brahe observed a supernova. The monastery complex was later used by the Scanian Hussar Regiment as custodian and from the Air Force military school. The castle now serves as a hotel.

Buildings and plant

The church started in 1158 was a three-nave, 53 m long Basilica in a bound system in the Romanesque style sandstone type Fontenay. It was rebuilt after a fire in 1291 from bricks. The exam was to the right of the church, only in one room ( the sacristy or Armarium ) is still intact. The entrance gate and a wing of Wirtschaftshofs are obtained.
