Heverlee is a neighborhood in the south of the city of Leuven in Flemish Brabant region in Belgium.

St. Lambert of Liege ( Sint Lambertus ) is local patron of Heverlee. Until the incorporation as a " borough " ( " deelgemeente " ) of 1977 Heverlee Leuven was an independent municipality.

Heverlee is home to the headquarters of the Para- Commando Brigade of the Belgian army.

1946, a military cemetery for fallen from the countries of the Commonwealth was inaugurated in Heverlee, among others are buried in the Fallen of the Battle of the Scheldt estuary.

Education

Parts of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU) and the Katholieke Hogeschool Leuven ( KHL ) and the Evangelical Theological Faculteit (ETF ) located in Heverlee.

Sports

The football club Oud-Heverlee Leuven bears in the Dreef stadium of its home games.

Traffic

Heverlee is located on the A3 motorway ( Brussels - Liège - Aachen ). At junction Heverlee branches off from the A3 from A2, which Hasselt and the Netherlands ( A76 ) also leads in the direction of Aachen.

The Heverlee Railway Station is on the railway line lion - Ottignies.
