Hilary Burn

Hilary Burn ( born April 8, 1946 in Macclesfield, Cheshire ) is a British animal illustrator.

Life and work

Burn is the daughter of Colin Barber a technical draftsman. She went to the Macclesfield High School and studied at the University of Leeds, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Zoology in 1967. From 1968 to 1971 she was biology teacher at a comprehensive school in Leeds. In 1971 she began to illustrate books of natural history and drawing of birds in gouache. In 1983 she was elected a member of the Society of Wildlife Artists. Burn was involved as an illustrator at numerous ornithological works, including the Handbook of the Birds of the World.
