Hillfoots Villages

As Hill Foots Foots Hill Villages or shortly will be referred to a collection of villages south of the Ochil Hills in Scotland. They lie nearly on a line directly in front of the steep southern slopes of the Ochils. The Hill Foots Villages are starting in the West: Blairlogie, Menstrie, Alva, Tillicoultry, Dollar, Pool of Muckhart and Yetts of Muckhart. With the exception of Blair Logie, which is located in the unitary authority Stirling, includes all villages administratively Clackmannanshire. The A91 leads on their way from Stirling to St Andrews by all Foots Hill Villages.

Historically, the textile production was an important economic activity in the Hill Foots Villages and contributed significantly to its development. Here, the companies took advantage of the numerous mountain streams along the slopes to generate energy. So there tweed, tartan and knitwear have been produced since the 16th century.
