Hiroki Yoshimoto

Hiroki Yoshimoto (Japanese吉 本 大树, Hiroki Yoshimoto; born September 2, 1980 in Osaka ) is a Japanese racing driver and lead singer of the rock band doa. Hiroki is his racing name, as a musician, he used the same written Daiki.

Racing

In the 2008 season he drove in the GP2 Asia Series for the team Meritus Racing.

Yoshimoto is the only driver in the GP2 Series, has driven the bulk of his career ahead of the GP2 Asia. His career began in 1999 in the Japanese Formula Junior in 1600. 2000, he joined the Japanese Formula Toyota and drove in the same year, also in the Korean F1800. His move into the Japanese Formula 3 in 2001 was the reward for the hard work, although he only drove two races in this series.

In 2002, he came into the enjoyment of a whole season in the Japanese Formula 3 where he stayed in 2003 before he moved in 2004 to the GT series. He also drove some races in Formula Nissan World Series with the team Gabord in the same year.

In 2005 and 2006 he drove in the GP2 Series as a driver of the team BCN Competición. In the overall classification, he finished 15th (2005 ) and 14th (2006) rank. In 2007 he drove in Formula Nippon for the team 5Zigen and Formula V6 Asia. In 2008 he drove for the team Meritus Racing in GP2 Asia Series and finished 10th in the driver standings. For the 2008/2009 GP2 Asia Series season Yoshimoto was committed by BCN Competición. With the sale of the team after the first race weekend of his engagement ended earlier than expected.
