Historical Materialism (journal)

Historical Materialism - Research in Critical Marxist Theory is an interdisciplinary Marxist journal, which appears in a quarterly basis in London in Brill Publishers.

The journal was launched in 1995 as a project at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Out of the project, a group of graduate students, the journal Historical Materialism was founded in 1997. The occasion was the finding that the interest in the neo-Marxist has grown though, but there is a lack of cross-linked information. The editors are a group of young, relatively unknown scientist, and faculty ( Lecturers, Readers, Assistant Professors ).

The scientific advisory board include world-renowned and Marxist -oriented scientists, among them Elmar Altvater (Berlin ), Michael Burawoy (Berkeley ), Alex Callinicos (London ), Mario Candeias (Berlin), Terry Eagleton (Manchester), Maurice Godelier (Paris ), David Harvey (New York), Frigga Haug ( Esslingen ), Wolfgang Fritz Haug ( Esslingen ), Bob Jessop ( Lancaster), Marcel van der Linden (Amsterdam ) Antonio Negri ( Paris / Venice), Moishe Postone ( Chicago), Erik Olin Wright ( Madison ).

In a self- representation, the editors raise their motto the ( added ) Marx's motto: "the ' merciless criticism of everything did exists': did for us includes Marxism itself".
