Hlavice

Hlavice ( German Hlawitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers south-west from Český Dub and belongs to Okres Liberec.

Geography

Hlavice is located south of the Jeschke Mountains in the Ralská pahorkatina (rolling mountain hills ) between the valleys of Zábrdka and the Malá Mohelka. To the north rises the Jelínka ( Jellinkaberg, 504 m).

Neighboring towns are Cetenov, Vystrkov and Lesnovek in the north, Doleček in the northeast, Malčice in the east, in the southeast Nantiškov, Vrtky, Přibyslavice, Mohelka and Kozmice in the south, southwest, and Končiny Vápno in the northwest. To the west of the municipality of Zábrdka are right, the waste places of the extinguished by the military training area Ralsko villages Kostřice, Proseč, Nový Mlýn, Olšina, Krida and Palohlavy.

History

On the basis of pottery finds in the parish garden, it is assumed that Hlavice was founded on 11 at the transition to the 12th century. As the surrounding area was also Hlavice probably since the mid-12th century to the possession of the Benedictine monastery Hradiště. The first written mention of the village took place in 1352. Since 1358 was in Hlavice a wooden parish church with presbytery, whose district included 15 surrounding villages. The church was destroyed during the Hussite Wars.

1705 for the first time a school in Hlavice was mentioned. In the middle of the 18th century was the construction of a new church. After the parish in Hlavice was spared in 1747 as a single in North Bohemia of the rinderpest epidemic, the Church of St. Linhard goal of processions to protect against animal diseases was. After the abolition of Partimonialherrschaften Hlavice formed in 1850 with the districts Doleček, Habel mountain, stain, Končiny, Lesnovek, Vápno, Záhatí and Zourov a municipality in the administrative district of Turnov. 1878 Vápno formed a separate municipality. In the same year a new school house was built. The municipality consists of the villages Hlavice Doleček ( Doletschek ) Hlavice ( Hlawitz ) Lesnovek ( Lesnow, formerly classified Lesnow ) and Vápno ( Wapno ). Basic settlement units are Hlavice, Končiny ( Kontschen ) Lesnovek and Vápno. To Hlavice also includes the corridors of the extinct settlement Nový Mlýn ( Neumühl ).

The municipality is divided into the Katastralbezirke Hlavice and Vápno.

Attractions
