Ho-am Prize

The Ho -Am Prize was instituted in 1990 by Lee Kun -hee, the former CEO of the Samsung Group. The award is named after the artist name of Lee Byung- Chull ( founder of Samsung and father Lee Kun -hee ) and is awarded to those academic in the field of sciences, arts, social development or another field with an outstanding performance for each year have contributed to the good of mankind. The award consists of a gold medal, a certificate and 300 million won.

From 1991 to 1996 the prize was awarded in the field of Mass Communication. For special cases in other fields, a special prize will be awarded, but that it is not awarded every year.
