Hoenderloo

Hoenderloo is a place in the Netherlands. It is located in the southwest of the town of Apeldoorn in the province of Gelderland. The largest part of the village belongs to the municipality of Apeldoorn, a small part belongs to the municipality of Ede, including the peasantry Hoog Baarlo. Hoenderloo has 1615 inhabitants in to Apeldoorn related part and 65 inhabitants in the section pertaining to Ede.

The village is situated in the southern part of the Veluwe in the European long-distance hiking E11 near the National Park de Hoge Veluwe and the Deelerwoud. The main industry is tourism, there are campsites, recreation parks, restaurants, hotels and shopping malls. Hoenderloo has two motorway access at Rijksweg 1 and at Rijksweg 50

History

Hoenderloo originated around half of the 19th century from a small number of scattered cottages. At the time, the landscape of heath and sand dunes. Curiosities

  • When the Dutch national football team in Hoenderloo opened their EM- quarters during the Euro 2000, the congregation called itself temporarily Oranjeloo. The Oranje Oranje moved well in advance of Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup here a training camp.
