Holden Brougham HG (1970-1971)

The Holden Brougham was a luxury-class car, which was built in model years 1968 to 1971 by Holden in Australia as a luxury version of the Belmont / Kingswood / Premier.

In July 1968, the new luxury sedan in the January existing HK series, the HK Brougham was presented together with the Monaro sports coupe. Basically, these were a Premier whose trunk had been extended and had a more angular degree with narrow, vertical taillights. He wore a W-shaped contoured front with double headlights at the two ends of a split in each vertical and horizontal chrome bar grille. The Brougham was only available with the new V8 engines and was equipped with vinyl roof and the best equipment (including individual seats in front and leather interior ). He solved the Premier from the top model in the series and was Holden's response to the Ford Fairlane.

Two V8 engines were available: base was the engine of Chevrolet with 5031 cc and 210 bhp (154 kW) and from the other GM brands came with a V8 5359 cc and 250 bhp (184 kW).

The first facelift followed in May 1969 Brougham HT. The horizontal chrome bar that divided the grille in the previous year, accounted for, so that all that remained was the vertical.

More teamed up with the engines one hand, developed its own Holden V8 engine with 4146 cc and 174 bhp (128 kW) at a compression ratio of 8:1, or 185 bhp (136 kW) at a compression ratio of 9:1, and ³ as a replacement for the Chevrolet engine V8 with a 5.047 cm and 240 bhp (176 kW). On the other hand, imported to the GM small-block V8 with 5735 cc and 275 bhp (202 kW) in automatic mode and 300 bhp (221 ​​kW) with manual transmission. As the engines of the last series HK were depleted, were the Brougham HT seven different engines to choose from.

In July 1971, the second facelift for Brougham HG. The vertically split grille had given a coarse checked pattern. The engine range almost equal to that of HT, only the old Chevrolet engine with 5.05 liter displacement and 210 bhp had outlived its usefulness.

From the HK series created 199 039 copies, from the HT there were 183 402 pieces and the HG was until July 1971 built exactly 155 787 times (all figures including the models Belmont, Kingswood, Premier, Monaro and 1- tonner ). In July 1971, the Brougham was replaced by the new Statesman.
