Holden ECOmmodore

The Holden ECOmmodore is a hybrid concept car based on the Holden VT Commodore, which has the Australian GM subsidiary Holden developed in conjunction with the CSIRO. It has a 2.0-liter gasoline engine R4 in combination with an electric motor which is powered by lead-acid batteries. He is now on display at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.

The car was unveiled at the Melbourne International Motor Show in May 2000, and appeared in the course of 2001 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and at the Hannover Messe on.

Likewise, the car appeared as a VIP vehicle on the torch relay of the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He was never produced in series, but remained a concept car.

At the time - more than eight years after its conception - remains the ECOmmodore not much more than a marketing concept, where the manufacturer thinks about the support of a larger and even more powerful hybrid vehicle.

There were reports that Holden wants to build in 2010 a hybrid version of the Holden VE Commodore to increase sales at home and abroad.
