Holice, Dunajská Streda District
Holice ( until 1948 slovak "Gala"; Hungarian Gelle or Egyházgelle ) is a municipality in southwestern Slovakia, with 1905 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It is located in Okres Dunajská Streda, kraj part of Trnavský.
Geography
The municipality is situated on the Great Rye Island ( Žitný ostrov ), a part of the Slovak Danube lowland. The city center is 11 miles from Dunajská Streda and 38 kilometers from the capital Bratislava.
History
The municipality is composed of the following Katastralgemeinden: Beketfa, CEFA, Kostolná Gala, Malá Budafa, Pósfa, Stara Gala, VeLka Budafa and Čentöfa. These are largely the same as the 7 parts of the municipality, until from CEFA, that is, as part of municipality Čechová and is also merged with the cadastral Čentöfa. Each village has a distinct history.
The main town was first mentioned in 1250 as Galla writing
Until 1919 all cities in the county of Pressburg was part of the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia. By the First Vienna Award in 1938-45 they came again to Hungary.
In 1948, the village name was modified from national political reasons still valid today slowakisierte form.
